Patrols are the building blocks of a Boy Scout troop. A patrol is a small group of boys who are similar in age, development, and interests. Working together as a team, patrol members share the responsibility for the patrol's success. They gain confidence by serving in positions of patrol leadership. All patrol members enjoy the friendship, sense of belonging, and achievements of the patrol and of each of its members.

How to Help Train Miami Valley Rescue Dogs for Fun & Service Hours!

If you saw their presentation and demo at the Troop 72 meeting on May 25th, you know that the Miami Valley Canine Search Team has four dogs which need to practice finding people 3-4 times a week. And, they need to practice with different people. That's where you come in!

For training, a Scout or adult volunteer will walk about a half mile to an agreed-to spot, and wait quietly. Community Park might be ideal with its size and varied terrain. After 15 to 45 minutes, the trainer will send a dog to find the volunteer. Assuming success, the Scout would give the dog a treat, praise it, etc. For more info, go to www.mvk9sar.webs.com .
You (and maybe a parent or buddy) can volunteer on your own schedule by contacting: Primary Contact: Lt. Nate Tretiak, mvk9sar@yahoo.com, 608-5214

This is an ongoing need, so friends, other BSA Troops, Girl Scouts, etc. can all participate. However, since Lt. Tretiak and his team did such a great program for us, I'd like to see Troop 72 really turn out and help with the training.

For Troop 72 service hour credit (Scouts and adults), give a note with your name(s), date, and number of hours to John Pierce at any meeting.

Please call my cell phone, 510-1603, or home, 878-8386, if you have any questions. BobPop Lorenzetti; Troop 72 Committee

No man is much good unless
he believes in God and obeys His laws.
So every Scout should have a religion....
Religion seems a very simple thing:
First: Love and Serve God.
Second: Love and serve your neighbour."
- (BADEN-POWELL;Scouting For Boys, 1908)

Scout
vespers

Softly falls the light of day,
As our campfire fades away.
Silently each scout should ask:
"Have I done my daily task?
Have I kept my honor birght?
Can I guiltless sleep tonight?
Have I done and have I dared,
Everything to be prepared?"
